Obituary

Larry P. Kanar, 87, November 13, 2022; beloved husband of Susan, nee Drucker for 56 years; loving father of David (Erika), Jodi (Allen) Joffe and Teri (Jared) Robins; cherished grandpa of Hanna and Harris Kanar, Brandon and Hailey Joffe, and Felicia and Benjamin Robins; dear brother of Fletcher (Barbara Speed) Oakes, much loved uncle, great uncle and friend of all who knew him. Larry was an active member of the Rotary Club of Northbrook where he helped with building an orphanage in Guatemala that has a library named after him. Larry had a love for skiing, sailing, photography, and roadtrips but his most cherished past time was spending time with his family. Memorial donations is his memory to the Rotary Club of Northbrook, www.rotary6440.org/clubinfo/northbrook, would be greatly appreciated. Chapel service, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Larry was a wonderful person and will be missed by all of us who knew him and experienced his friendship. He always had time to share. His dedication to the Rotary Club of Northbrook was an inspiration that I will always remember.

My father, Erwin Hermanson was a business associate with Larry and a good friend. It was Larry who introduced, my father to skiing. Larry and my father had wonderful times going on ski trips. I credit Larry for my love of skiing and my family’s. On behalf of the Hermanson family we give Larry’s family are deepest condolences to a very kind and thoughtful man. I hope Larry and my father have reconnected in heaven.
